Francis King, Deacon

Francis King, ordained in 2012, is a deacon at St. Regis Catholic Parish. He helped to draft a handbook for deacons for the Archdiocese. He completed his Master of Theology and Master of Pastoral Studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. He is also the President of the Chinese Catholic Society of Michigan and oversees Our Lady of China Chinese Catholic Community at the Church of Divine Savior in Westland, Michigan.

Prior to his formation as a deacon, he worked at Ford for 28 years in automated test equipment, robotics, and assembly engineering.  He held several managerial positions in Ford manufacturing. He was also President of Ford Chinese Association, an employee resource group for the company.

Dr. King received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California in Berkeley in 1976. Prior to joining Ford Motor Company, he was assistant professor of Mathematics at Fordham University and has worked at Perkin Elmer Data Systems. He holds 7 patents and is a recipient of Ford’s Technical Achievement Award. He has coauthored a book on “Process Improvement Simplified” and published articles in the Encyclopedia of Robotics and NATO’s Advanced Science Institute Series. He was a member of several professional organizations.

Francis and his wife, Lucy, have two children, Anthony and Rebecca, and five grandchildren.
