Fr. David Buersmeyer, Pastor

Fr. David Buersmeyer is a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit, ordained in 1980. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan and received a Catholic school education through St. Anselm in Dearborn Heights and the University of Detroit Jesuit  High School in Detroit. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in mathematics, Fr. Dave took a year to work as a lay campus minister in the Chicago area, using that year to think through whether and how he was called to priesthood. He attended St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan (now closed) for his seminary formation, receiving an Masters in Divinity from there and a Masters in Religious Studies concurrently from the University of Detroit.  Several years into priesthood Fr. Dave went for further studies to the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium, receiving a Licentiate in Sacred Theology in 1986.

Past priest assignments include St. William, Walled Lake; St. Christopher, Detroit; Bishop Borgess High School, Redford Township; SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake. He was appointed pastor of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in 1990, serving there 12 years. Prior to being assigned to St. Regis he spent 14 years as pastor of SS. John and Paul Parish, Washington Township, including serving as vicar for the North Macomb area.

Fr. Dave continues to be an adjunct faculty member for Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. He has been a member of the Presbyteral Council, Pension Board, and Assignment Boards for the priests of the Archdiocese. In addition to teaching, reading widely and voraciously, Fr. Dave enjoys movies, engaging conversations, and all topics theological. He is excited to be back in a parish with a school and all that being at St. Regis will bring.
