Sacristan

The sacristan prepares the sacred vessels for Mass, prepares the altar, assures that worship aids are in place for all liturgical ministers in the sanctuary, and prepares the microphone, hymnal and vestments for the priest. In addition, after Mass he/she cleans the sacred vessels and assures that the altar and sanctuary are clean and ready for the next Mass. He/she also notifies the Worship staff liaison when host or wine supplies are low. Training for the ministry is provided. Ministers must participate in a Protecting God’s Children workshop, complete a background check, abide by the Archdiocesan Volunteer Code of Conduct, and participate in yearly formation (continuing education).
