SOS is Coming to St. Regis and We Need Your Help!

South Oakland Shelter (SOS) works to reduce the impact and prevalence of homelessness in Southeast Michigan. SOS partners with 95 faith-filled congregations to provide temporary lodging and supportive services to help displaced families and individuals break the cycle of homelessness, and live independently. With an emphasis on homeless prevention, sustainable housing solutions and career development SOS implements strategies and programs that provide realistic options for homeless and at-risk people seeking stabilization and self-sufficiency.
SOS provides mattresses, pillows and linens, and transportation from church to church for weekly lodging, meals, transportation, dinner, breakfast and bag lunches.  St. Regis will need more than 250 volunteers to help our community support our SOS client friends with meals, laundry, night supervision, transportation and more.  We have a full range of volunteer commitments starting with 30-minute tasks, and jobs that can be filled by those who will be out of town.
