God’s Kingdom Together

We are called to build God’s Kingdom together, one act of love and service at a time. Jesus invites us to care for “the least of these,” to “hunger and thirst for justice,” and to be peacemakers in our families, parish, and community.

Recognizing the God-given dignity of every person, we stand with those experiencing poverty or hardship, reach out to people on the margins, promote justice, and work for the common good.

Everyone at St. Regis is invited to share their gifts, time, and talents through service, outreach, and kindness. Contact the parish office to learn how you can serve.

Service To People In Need

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’…‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:34-40)

Sharing God’s Love

At St. Regis, our Giving Tree and Lenten Acts of Charity projects offer our parish family a beautiful way to share God’s love and generosity with those in need. Each Advent and Lent, we support individuals, families, and organizations in our local communities.

Advent Giving Tree

During Advent, parishioners prepare and distribute more than 1,000 Giving Tree tags and organize donated gifts from early November through the second week of December. Volunteers thoughtfully coordinate, prepare, and deliver gifts to participating parishes and organizations throughout the Detroit area, including:

  • Moses the Black (formerly St. Benedict and St. Gregory) – Highland Park
  • Charles Lwanga (formerly St. Cecilia and St. Leo) – Detroit
  • St. Augustine and St. Monica – Detroit
  • St. Aloysius Community Outreach – Detroit
  • Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center – Detroit
  • Our Lady of the Rosary – Detroit
  • Mary’s Children Family Center – Clawson
  • Christine’s Soup Kitchen and Outreach – Detroit
  • St. Vincent de Paul Prison Outreach – Detroit

Whether you donate a gift, help organize, or assist with delivery, every act of generosity helps make Christmas brighter for someone in our community.

Lenten Giving Tree

During Lent, parishioners again put faith into action through the Lenten Giving Tree, organized in partnership with the Women of St. Regis and Evangelical Charity Ministry. Parishioners are invited to offer gifts and support to organizations serving those most in need.

These projects remind us that even a small gift can make a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping St. Regis remain a parish known for generosity, compassion, and care for our neighbors.

At St. Regis, we believe that small acts of generosity can make a big difference. Our Non-Perishable Food Drive offers parishioners of all ages a simple and meaningful way to put their faith into action by sharing food with neighbors who may be experiencing hunger or hardship.

Each week, parishioners are invited to bring non-perishable food items to support local nonprofit organizations that provide food, shelter, and assistance to individuals and families in need. The donations may be brought to the parish office Monday – Friday or the Gathering Space in the church before or after weekend Masses.

This ministry is also a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn the joy of serving others. Our school-aged children regularly participate in the food pantry ministry, helping with many aspects of the collection and distribution process.

Throughout the year, St. Regis also supports seasonal food drives, including our annual Thanksgiving Food Collection benefiting St. Leo’s. Volunteers are always welcome and needed to sort, pack, and deliver donations.

Whether you bring a few items, volunteer your time, or encourage your family to participate, every contribution helps us share God’s love and care for our neighbors. Thank you for being part of this important ministry.

At St. Regis, we believe that caring for one another is an important part of living our faith. When a parishioner is recovering from surgery, illness, or another life transition, a home-cooked meal can be a simple but meaningful way to offer support and let them know they are not alone.

We are always grateful for volunteers who are willing to prepare a meal or help with delivery. Whether you give your time, prepare a meal, or simply help spread the word, your kindness can bring comfort and encouragement to someone in need.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this ministry, or if you would like to volunteer, please contact the parish office for more information.

Respect for Life

Respect for Life ministry at St. Regis Catholic Church

We also address end of life issues like final directives and funerals.

We support parishioners interested in pro-life programs by providing assistance and referrals to Mothers and Unborn Baby Care, 40 Days for Life, and Project Rachel. We also stay informed about legislation concerning life issues and, upon request, provide help with human trafficking concerns. Ideas for new programs are always welcome.

Throughout the year, we honor mothers and fathers with flowers on Mother’s Day and prayer cards on Father’s Day, offer blessings for expectant mothers, and encourage prayer for the sanctity of life during 40 Days for Life. Volunteers are welcome to support these projects.

Funeral Ministry

At St. Regis, we are honored to accompany families through loss and grief, offering comfort, care, and a warm welcome to those gathering for a funeral Mass or service in our church or chapel.

Funeral Ministry volunteers provide a caring presence and practical support by preparing for services, welcoming those who come to pray, and serving as greeters, sacristans, and hospitality ministers. They also assist with other needs as they arise.

Your presence can be a meaningful gift to families when they most need the support of their parish community. To volunteer, please contact the parish office for more information.
