Reconciliation

We celebrate God’s abundant mercy in the sacrament of Reconciliation. It is in this sacrament that we celebrate God’s forgiveness in the best possible way.

It does not matter how long or how short a time it has been since one’s last confession, or how grave the sins may be. The Church is ready with open arms to receive those who wish to experience God’s mercy and forgiveness through this sacrament of healing.

Not only does the Sacrament of Reconciliation free us from our sins, but it also challenges us to extend that same compassion and forgiveness to those who sin against us. In receiving God’s mercy, we are liberated to become people who forgive. We gain a deeper understanding of the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: “It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.”

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is God’s gift to us, providing the grace and means by which sins committed can be forgiven. In confession, we have the opportunity to repent, receive God’s mercy, and restore our friendship with him. It is a sacred moment in which we place ourselves in God’s presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins.

Through absolution, we are reconciled with God and restored to full communion with the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation also helps us remain close to the truth that we cannot live without God. As St. Paul reminds us, “In him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).

Preparation for First Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a beautiful opportunity for children to experience God’s loving mercy and forgiveness as they continue growing in faith. Preparation for First Reconciliation takes place before children begin preparing to receive their First Holy Eucharist.

Children and their parents are invited to participate in family gatherings at St. Regis, where they can pray, learn, and grow together while building upon the faith foundation established at Baptism.

First Reconciliation is celebrated during the season of Advent, offering a special opportunity for children and families to prepare their hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth.

We look forward to welcoming your family as you take this important step in your child’s faith journey!

For more information about First Reconciliation preparation, please contact the parish office.
