Confirmation
Confirmation is a beautiful gift from God. In simple terms, Confirmation is the Sacrament in which the Holy Spirit, who is God, comes to strengthen our faith and deepen our relationship with Him. Through the Holy Spirit, we are given the assurance that God is always with us and will remain with us throughout our journey until we arrive home with Him in Heaven. He fills our hearts with hope and reminds us that we never have to walk this journey alone.
Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Holy Spirit strengthens our ability to love God and to love others more deeply, just as Jesus calls us to do. To help us live this love faithfully, the Holy Spirit gives us seven beautiful gifts: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. These gifts help us recognize God’s presence in our lives, make good choices, remain strong in difficult times, and grow closer to Him.

The Five Effects of Confirmation
Confirmation strengthens our relationship with God and roots us more deeply in our identity as His beloved children.
It unites us more firmly with Christ and helps us grow in His love, so that we may follow His example and share His love with others.
The Holy Spirit strengthens us with Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. These gifts help us live our faith with greater courage, wisdom, and love.
Through Confirmation, our relationship with the Church, the Body of Christ, is made more perfect. We are strengthened to live our faith and to participate more fully in the life of the Church.
The Holy Spirit gives us a special strength to stand firm in our faith, to share it with others, and to defend it when necessary. We are called to be true witnesses of Christ—not only by what we say, but especially by how we live, love, forgive, and serve.
Confirmation is truly a moment of grace. It is an invitation to open our hearts more fully to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to guide us. He strengthens us, fills us with hope, and reminds us that we belong to God. With the Holy Spirit beside us and within us, we can continue our journey with faith and confidence, knowing that God’s love will never leave us and that He is leading us home to Heaven.

Teens who want to prepare for Confirmation:
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a beautiful and grace-filled step in a young person’s journey of faith. At St. Regis Catholic Church, our youth typically prepare to receive Confirmation during their 8th grade year. This special time gives them the opportunity to complete their Sacraments of Initiation and, most importantly, to grow closer to Jesus and deepen their relationship with Him and His Church.
We are excited to welcome your family into this journey of faith! As your child prepares for Confirmation, we want to support and accompany both you and your child every step of the way.
Preliminary Requirements to Prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation
To help our young people be spiritually prepared to receive this important sacrament, we ask that the following requirements be met:
- Be baptized in the Roman Catholic Church.
- Have received the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
- Be a registered member of St. Regis Catholic Parish with your family.
- Have consistently participated in faith formation classes or attended a Catholic school for the past two years.
- Be enrolled in a Catholic school or the St. Regis Parish Discipleship Formation program during the current academic year.
These requirements are intended to help ensure that our young people have a strong foundation in their Catholic faith and are ready to enter more deeply into the life of the Church.
A Journey of Faith
Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit strengthens our young people with His gifts and gives them the grace they need to continue growing and maturing in their faith. The Holy Spirit helps them become more confident in their relationship with God, remain steadfast when they face challenges, and live their faith with greater courage, joy, and love.
At St. Regis Catholic Church, we are blessed with a vibrant and active Confirmation program through both our Discipleship Formation program and St. Regis Academy. Even more, we are blessed by the many teachers, catechists, and adults—young and old—who generously give their time, faith, and love to accompany our young people.
Our dedicated catechists and teachers are compassionate, devoted, and knowledgeable in the Catholic faith. They are eager to walk alongside our youth, helping them come to know Jesus more personally, recognize His presence in their lives, and discover the joy of living as His disciples.
Preparing for Confirmation is about so much more than preparing for a ceremony. It is about preparing the heart to receive the Holy Spirit and opening oneself to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity for our young people to discover that God knows them, loves them, and has a beautiful plan for their lives.
This is a journey that is meant to be shared—with parents, families, catechists, sponsors, and our entire parish community. We are grateful for the privilege of accompanying your family during this special time.
We warmly welcome you and look forward to walking with your family on this beautiful sacramental journey. Together, we will pray for, encourage, and celebrate our young people as they take this important step in their faith and grow closer to Christ.
